Where did summer go???

This past Sunday we walked in the annual ALS walk in honor of Leigh's dad, Scott Smith. He was diagnosed in 2000 with the disease. The whole family came out to walk together! It has been a crazy summer flying by so fast. So many things, so many memories to make! We've traveled, we've said goodbyes to those we love, we've watched over sick family members (moms on the mend!) and we said so long summer. Were gearing up for the fall and holiday seasons and the onset of a busy year for Leigh in 2010.Were thankful for every day and the blessings of such wonderful friends and family. Leigh, myself and Ricky are on Facebook now so if your there friend us!
We spent our 14th Wedding Anniversary in Henderson/NCMP with our new camper! No more tent camping...AHHHH...it's great! This was our 3rd year there for Labor Day and it is one of our all time favorite places to be! We are actually gearing up to go back for another 3 day weekend before it gets too cold!

We spent one week in August down in Kitty Hawk,NC. A great week visiting the Corolla wild horses, Lighthouses, Ocracoke Island and just lazin at the beach!

Kayleigh and Nandry in Lake Meade PA. One last trip to see Nathan and Laurel before they left for Africa. A great time was had by all and it's sooo relaxing up there!

We just got back from Kitty Hawk, NC. I was working on a clients beach house and they graciously let us stay down there while I worked. Our friend Jennifer and her son Brad came with us and she would take the kids to the beach while I worked. Leigh drove down each night after work and was able to squeeze in some fun! The kids were all nice and rosy cheeked from spending the day on the beach and enjoying daddy being with us for dinner.
Ricky as you can see played hard and wore himself out! We went 'ghost' crab hunting one night and caught 2 of the ugly things! They ended up tipping the bucket over and escaping!

We had a good time and were all getting better at boogie boarding! Were looking forward to going back down for a WHOLE week of just fun in August. Now were heading to Lake Meade, PA for a quick get away with family!

Ricky's flight has gotten 'Honor Flight' twice this week. We think it has to do with inspection and yes there is pictures with them inspecting with white gloves!
Yesterday they rappelled down this 35 foot wall with a one rope harness they made themselves. From our understanding they had some Army specialist on site and they taught them and showed them tanks and heavy equipment. My 13 year old was in an Army tank!!

Since Leigh and Ricky were gone we had a girl day! Pedis, manis and hair cuts! My little girl got layers and curls, guess she's really not that little anymore!

Ricky left last Friday for encampment. He is up at Fort Pickett in Virginia doing a 10 day 'boot camp'. Leigh tells me he will want to sleep for a week when he gets back!
It was hard not having him here for Fathers Day or even talking to him. Leigh's in Philly this week also so it's just us girls hanging out and it's weird!I will say I am ready for my boys to come home....I miss 'em!
Fathers day all Leigh wanted was to ride. He has been working at work transitioning to the Coast Guard and making sure the guy moving in to fill his shoes in the other jobs is set up and trained then coming home and working on the remodel. So he wanted to play and play hard he did. Broke in his new riding gear and got good and muddy. Kayleigh wasn't going to be left out but didn't want to put her full gear on so she rode in a dress. Have to say it was too cute watching her fly by with the dress billowing out behind her.

AIRMAN

Leigh giving Ricky the Airman coin for his promotion
Were proud of our boy. He was promoted to 'Cadet Airman' in the Civil Air Patrol. He is growing up so fast and becoming his own person.

Proud grandparents Pa Richard and Grandma Conrod

Leigh and Pa Richard pining Ricky's new Airman pins on. It was Pa Richards first 'military pinning' so he is learning they have to be so many inches from the edge of the collar and so many inches in,etc. There were whispered instructions to help him out and he managed just fine! It was a good night and were all so very proud of Ricky.

Ricky standing at attention. He is so handsome!
